Considering the modest size and weight, this bench is very sturdy and good for dumbbell exercises with a combined weight of 100 lbs or less. The bench supports a variety of upper body exercises, including dumbbell presses, chest flies, shoulder presses and bicep curls. It’s ideal for working on muscle definition rather than extreme bodybuilding.

The four adjustable positions include upright, flat, incline, and decline. Foam covered hand grips and shin supports provide extra comfort and the dumbbell holder allows for easy access to your weights between sets.

With a focus on heavy duty construction and space saving design, the Dual Multi Press unit

Strengthening the “core” has become a trendy fitness topic in recent years. Core strength simply refers to the muscles in and around the abdominals and back and their ability to support the spine and keep the body stable and balanced.

The Apex Roman/Hyper Extension Bench helps you work the core more effectively and comfortably. It can chisel the abs, strengthen the lower back and improve posture by accommodating a wide range of focused exercises.

In the face up position your legs are held in place by supports, isolating the stomach and working more muscles by hyperextending the abdominals. The lower back can be worked in the face down position.

The bench is easy to put together and very sturdy on a heavy-gauge steel-tubing frame. Padded handles and high density deluxe boxed upholstery increase comfort.

The two-foam leg holders are adjustable vertically but unfortunately not horizontally — the distance from the foot bar to the chair pad is fixed. In addition, the relatively short handles make it more difficult to get into and out of position. The Apex is a very affordable option and many higher-end Roman chairs address these issues.

The Apex Roman/Hyper Extension Bench measures 43 1/2 x 28 x 38″, weighs 46 lbs. and comes with a 2-year limited manufacturer’s warranty on parts.

This entry level bench aims to be a complete home gym and does an admirable job considering what you get for the price. This is a good option if you’re looking for an affordable all-in-one gym, but keep in mind that it comes with the bench and attachments only, barbells and plates are sold separately.

The Phoenix 99226 has a relatively small footprint for a gym offering such versatility. The selection of features and attachments allow you to work every muscle group. In addition to the Olympic style bench, the 99226 comes with a lat tower, squat rack, leg lift, and preacher curl attachment. The lat tower is an uncommon addition for a bench in this price range and adds significant value to the package.

The bench includes Olympic “sleeves” that can be used over the standard-sized plate poles to accommodate both Olympic or standard plates. Durable 3.0 inch steel uprights can be adjusted to suit multiple users. The bench itself can be set at incline, decline or a flat position.

Assembly for a gym with this many options is time consuming. Plan to spend several hours getting this bench ready for use. Once assembled, the Phoenix 99226 is a solid unit that will get the job done.
