Fitness News: Stop Using Hydroxycut Products, FDA Says
WASHINGTON — Government health officials warned fitness enthusiasts and dieters to immediately discontinue the use Hydroxycut, a popular supplement now linked to cases of serious liver damage. The Food and Drug Administration confirmed that the manufacturer of the dietary supplement has agreed to recall 14 Hydroxycut products.
Hydroxycut has been marketed as made from natural ingredients and at least 9 million units were sold last year in grocery stores, health food stores and pharmacies.
The FDA’s food and nutrition division said the agency has received 23 reports of liver problems, including the death of a 19-year-old man. Other patients have experienced symptoms ranging from jaundice to liver failure.
The list of products being recalled currently includes:

- Hydroxycut Caffeine-Free Rapid Release Caplets
- Hydroxycut Hardcore Liquid Caplets
- Hydroxycut Max Liquid Caplets
- Hydroxycut Regular Drink Packets
- Hydroxycut Caffeine-Free Drink Packets
- Hydroxycut Hardcore Drink Packets (Ignition Stix)
- Hydroxycut Max Drink Packets
- Hydroxycut Liquid Shots
- Hydroxycut Hardcore RTDs (Ready-to-Drink)
- Hydroxycut Max Aqua Shed
- Hydroxycut 24
- Hydroxycut Carb Control
- Hydroxycut Natural
