GoWear Fit Lifestyle BodyBugg Armband | Body Media Calorie & Sleep Management System
The GoWear fit Lifestyle and Calorie Management System is the same device from the same manufacturer as the BodyBugg V3 featured on NBC’s The Biggest Loser. The name change came after 24 Hour Fitness bought the rights to the BodyBugg.
This multi-function fitness device differs from other performance monitors as it actually collects data coming off your body by measuring galvanic skin response, skin temperature, and heat flux. It accurately tracks calories burned, steps, physical exertion and sleep duration and efficiency. This is not a heart-rate monitor, a GPS device, or a simple pedometer that only estimates caloric burn.
Most people intuitively feel they move more and eat less than they actually do. The reality is usually the reverse. The Gowear Fit multi-sensor armband provides accurate day-to-day or minute-to-minute readings of what you’re burning compared to what you’re taking in.
Progress is tracked over time using an Online Activity Manager that as easy to use on your PC as hooking up a digital camera. Here’s the catch — the online system is subscription based and to see minute-to-minute stats while in use you’ll need to purchase the optional display that clips on to your belt, bag or clothes.
We like the idea of not being a slave to minute-by-minute readings and prefer the subscription option, checking stats just once per day. The online system is robust, graphical, includes a personalized web page and options to print or export your data to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. The price is reasonable at 6.95/month for a 12 month commitment, 9.95/month for six months or 12.95 month-to-month. The first three months are free.
